HMs honorary shield
awarded to Oman Cables Industry
Oman Cables Industry was honoured with the most
prestigious award, His Majestys Honorary shield for
being one of the best industries of Oman for the year
2011 at a grand ceremony held on 26th December 2011 at
Al Bustan palace.
The honorary shield is bestowed to the industries who
have already won the HM Cup for the Best Industries for
a maximum of five times.
Management of Oman Cables said that the company is
extremely pleased with the award and such recognition
will also motivate other Omani industries to innovate
new concepts to develop Global demand for Omani
products. Oman Cables Industry will continue to
demonstrate good performance to bring prosperity to the
company and to Oman as a country.

Corporate Governance for
Oman Cables Industry
Oman Cables Industry has won the Corporate Governance
Excellence Award for the year 2011 in the Industrial
Sector among the contenders listed on the MSM. The award
was adjudicated by the Omani Center for Corporate
Governance under the arm of the Capital Market Authority
in a ceremony held 27th December 2011 at Grand Hyatt,
Muscat.
This is the second year in succession that Oman Cables
Industry has won this award, and in 2010 was the overall
winner of all the companies listed. It reflects the
companys strong commitment to good Corporate Governance
practices.

HR for Non HR Mangers
was designed for Managers whose main specialism is not
in HR and development, but who have responsibility for
the management of people. The two days workshop run by
Europe's largest professional institute for people
management and development, institute: The Chartered
Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD)
The workshop covered HR-related activities and it is
critical to line managers to understand, discussed, HR
best practice and comply with legislation. The two-day
HR course export the line manager through the complete
employee life-cycle from pre-recruitment to post-
termination as well as pervasive coverage of key
employment legislation affecting the employer-employee
relationship.

CLP recently
audited Oman Cables for a factory assessment as a future
supplier to China Power in Hong Kong. The assessments
were based on our ISO Systems and Product Certifications
by BASEC and TUV.

Steenberg of SABS did a factory Pre-Permit
Inspection on 11th & 12th October 2011 to assess
OCI's capability to apply for the South African Bureau
of Standards Accreditation as a supplier to Southern
African region.

The Premier,Mr David
Dabede Mabuza of the Provincial Government of
Mpumalanga with the South African Ambassador, Yusuf
Salojee visited Rusayl Industrial Estate and Oman
Cables - September 2011.
The visit was part of a Government delegation intended
to strengthen economic development and agricultural
relations between the two countries.

OCI had the pleasure
of hosting a plant visit from one of our major
Distribution customer's Majan Electricity Company.
This visit forms part of an extensive drive in OCI to
improve customer service and develop an environment of
learning by sharing experiences and knowledge. The two
day plant visit conducted 16 -17 May 2011, proved to be
a great success and has added value to both OCI and our
valued customer Majan Electricity Company.

Over the last few years
Oman Cables employees are actively participating in
the Blood Donation Camp. The HSE Department has
organized this event on 22 May 2011 at Plant 2.
OCI employees donated blood for this cause and our
special thanks goes to the donors and organizers.
On the occasion Mr. Ahmed Hamed Al- Kharoosi -General
donor of the Sultanate of Oman delivered a speech to the
staff members of the importance of blood donation and we
thank Mr. Ahmed for sharing his knowledge.

received First Aid training during the month of May 2011.
Training consists of primary and secondary defibrillator
usage and how to correctly analyze an emergency first
aid situation.

2011.

OCI's HSE department
trained 44 staff members in Fire Warden Training to
ensure that all levels and areas are covered 24 hours a
day. The training included basic fire fighting skills,
correct usage of different extinguishers and risk
management for potential fire hazards.

Oman Aluminum
Industries LLC (OAPIL), based in Sohar is a joint
venture company between Oman Cables Industry and Takamul
Investment Company of Oman Oil.
Mr. Frederic Rouyer has joined OAPIL as Chief Executive
Officer effective 1st June 2011. Mr. Rouyer will be
based in Sohar near the Company's modern plant.
OAPIL successfully commissioned the plant during mid
2010 with initial teething issues like any other
industry. OAPIL products are being certified and
exporting to quality conscious markets, internationally.
The company has created jobs for Omani Nationals and
many Omani are handling key technical positions
independently.
Mr. Frederic, CEO, holds a Master's Degree in Mechanical
and Materials Engineering from France. He has worked in
the Aluminium industry for over 20 years and was holding
Senior Management Positions at one of the leading
aluminum producers company in the World. Mr. Rouyer has
the knowledge and experience in all aspects of Aluminium
business.
In his previous role he has served as CEO in Asia for a
large Aluminum Company and his experience includes
successful implementation of multiple Greenfield
projects in Europe, United States, Asia and Far East.
While welcoming Mr. Frederic, the Shareholders of OAPIL
commented that the company is now well established in
its first year of operations and appreciates Mr. PR
Ramakrishnan, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the
company for his unstinted contribution since inception
of the project to commercial production. Mr. PR
Ramakrishnan was instrumental to make the project a
success within the cost and time limit.
The shareholders now look forward to the experience that
Mr. Frederic will bring to the company to ensure that
OAPIL is a sustained Global presence in the Aluminum and
Alloy Rod Supply as well as a leader in supply of
overhead Transmission line conductors.

As part of welfare
program for employees, OCI organized a medical check
up for its staff in collaboration with Al Hayat
Polyclinic of Oman. Dental Screening, Blood Pressure
Reading Blood Sugar Checking, BMI Calculation & Waist
Measurement, Vision Test were only a few of the offered
services.

CCV line Commissioned
(Continuous Catenary Vulcanizing)
Oman Cables has just commissioned its 3rd CCV line.
The first expansion project into MV XLPE cables
commenced in 2004, followed by a second CCV in December
2007. Market demand in the MENA region remained buoyant
and approval for the third CCV line was obtained
beginning 2010. The project was executed in 10 months
which involved extensive earth moving works as well as
modernization of the existing CCV towers.
OCI has also established a foothold in selective global
markets that will ensure effective capacity utilization
of the new line and provision has been made to
accommodate a 4th line should the market demand
continue.

HSBC Oman's trade &
supply chain (TSC) unit hosted a specialized two-day
workshop for their values corporate customer, Oman
Cables Industry, which was attended by 50 employees of
the sales, purchases and finance departments. Drawing on
a wealth of local knowledge and worldwide expertise, Ian
Rogers, head of trade sales Middl East and North Africa
at HSBC Bank Middle East Dubai, focused on various
topics covering international trade with special focus
on the International Chamber of Commerce rules governing
domestic and international trade terms and UCP 600.
Designed specifically for Oman Cables Industry, the
interactive workshop was a genuine testament to HSBC's
commitment to providing unmatched tailored Corporate
Banking services, recognizing that every company is
unique and helping them unlock new possibilities by
maximizing local and international opportunities.

Corporate
Governance Excellence Awards to OCI
Oman Cables bagged Corporate Governance Excellence Award
in the Industrial category and "overall" excellence
award in all the categories.
The competition was organized by Oman Corporate
Governance Center of Capital Market Authority.
The awards night was held under the auspices of His
Excellency Maqbool Bin Ali Bin Sultan,
Minister of Commerce and Industry, in the presence of
their Excellencies and top officials of the
participating companies.The event was held on 2nd January 2011 at Grand Hyatt,
Muscat.

A multifunctional OCI
team, comprising of Production, Continuous
Improvement and IT visited the MESA Conference 2010 at
Dusseldorf Germany from 8th to 10th November.
MESA is a global community of manufacturers, producers,
industry leaders and solution providers focused on
improving Operations Management capabilities through the
effective application of technology solutions and best
practices. By attending this Conference, the
participants were able to know more about MESA, and met
their officials, met MES vendors, attended case studies
of MES implementation from companies around the world,
and enhanced their learning on important subjects such
as ISA95 standard, OEE and other KPIs, benchmarking etc. |

On Tuesday, October
19, 2010, The Public Establishment for Industrial
Estates (PEIE) represented by Knowledge Oasis Muscat
(KOM) received a Belarusian delegation led by His
Excellency Dr. Viktor Lukashenko, Assistant to the
President of the Republic of Belarus for National
Security, Army, Police and Public Security Affairs.
The delegation also received a warm welcome at the
Rusayl Industrial estate, where they visited Oman Cables
Industry.
The Belarusian delegation expressed their admiration for
the quality of infrastructure within KOM and the various
support facilities provided by PEIE to nurture a sound
industrial sector.

Understanding on 8-March-2010 to support Omani
Manufacturing Group as an exclusive sponsorship for
series of seminars of OMG.
