OCI has grown by 360 per cent in the last five years, from RO 16.6 million in 2001 to RO 60.6 million in 2005, with an average annual growth of about 36 per cent both in revenue and performance. OCI's new thrust is to 'Go Global', said Hussain Salman, Managing Director of the company. Keeping this in view, OCI has expanded its market territory globally, across the Pacific and Atlantic. This is a landmark in the history of OCI, which is further exploring its business in other parts of the globe.

"With growth comes new challenges, which need changes to achieve them. Change is inevitable," Salman said. Changes in the management team include the stepping down by A C Roy from the post of Executive Director, of his own volition. The board has accepted his resignation and relieved him of his duties on July 16. Roy started his association with OCI as General Manager and was elevated to the post of Executive Director. The management appreciated Roy's contribution to OCI.

OCI has announced robust growth in the first half of 2006. Sales touched RO 49.213 million, an increase of 80.9 per cent in revenue compared to the corresponding period last year while net profit stood at RO 3.073 million, which is 241.1 per cent higher compared to the first half of 2005, the company's Managing Director added.

The results are backed by strong pragmatic approach to success, coupled with OCI's internal strength, directed by sound wisdom of the board of directors and supported by a dedicated management team under the astute supervision of Hussain Salman. The company has achieved exceptional growth in the last five years. Regarding employee training, Salman added that every individual employee of OCI would continue to be adequately trained and nurtured to cope with new and growing change required by OCI's international business. Omanisation has been a successful exercise in OCI with the company maintaining 50 per cent Omanisation for the last few years. The management's focus is to Omanise the middle management cadre.
