The pioneering
concept of manufacturing 'electric wires and cables'
was first conceived by two venturesome
entrepreneurs, Mr. Mustafa Mukhtar and Mr. Hussain
Salman. Endowed with keen foresight and a fervent
desire of contributing to national development, Mr.
Mustafa Mukhtar and Mr. Hussain Salman formed
'Electrical Wires and Cables Manufacturing Company'
(EWCMC), which was later renamed as Oman Cables
Industry S.A.O.G. (OCI)
OCI was founded
with an initial capital of RO 250,000 (USD$ 649,351) by these
entrepreneurial pioneers in 1984, located in a
humble structure in Rusayl Industrial Estate and
with an initial workforce of 10 employees. The
company's first year turnover was about RO
75,000.(USD$ 194,805) OCI commenced operations with a plot size of
10,000 sq m, which has now increased to 1,35,000 sq m. |
