In 1997, Oman Cables Industry SAOG (OCI) entered into an alliance with Draka Holding N.V. the Netherlands. Draka Holding N.V. is the holding company of a number of operating cable companies that are engaged worldwide in the development, production and sale of cable. Draka presently has 67 operating companies in 25 countries in Europe, America and Asia. On the basis of the most recently published turnover figures, Draka is the fifth largest cable manufacturer in the world. Within Europe, Draka is the third-largest cable manufacturer.

Oman Cables' success story began in 1984 when the product idea was conceived and implemented by the current chairman Mustafa Bin Mukhtar Bin Ali Al Lawati and the current Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Hussain bin Salman Al Lawati

The new business was not a very serious challenge for Mustafa and Hussain as they had amassed a wealth of experience and information since centuries, inherited from their fore fathers, and the 1974 launching of Al-Saleh Enterprises, which deals with electrical products and accessories. Using Al-Saleh as a springboard for a gradual expansion of cables business across the region made things relatively easier

Al-Saleh is now a big name in electrical accessories and lightings in the Sultanate of Oman, with branches in Muscat, Ibri, Sohar and Hail. It also has branches in United Arab Emirates (UAE).
